General Rules
We expect everyone to be respectful to others both within the guild as well as outside of the guild.
We do have a performance expectation. You should know your class and what it takes to play it well. We are happy to provide direction and suggestion to help you and your toon be the best that you can be. Do not take constructive criticism personally.
Unlike some guilds, we welcome all our members alts to join and occaisionally raid on alt nights. We ask that each member declare a "main" character for raids and a "main" spec. We do not dictate what spec you must play; however members should understand that should you chose to change your spec that decision may impact whether you can be given a raid spot on any given night. (i.e., a healer that goes to DPS may be sat more often so we can bring in the additional healer we need). The officers need to be made aware of your desire to change specs and what the spec will be.
Because raids require a certain composition and we recruit and build the guild based on a person's main character according to the application we received, we do not allow the changing of alts to mains except at major content patches (i.e., the next tier of raids) when Blizz typically does a mini gear-reset. Usually our alts are well geared from the previous tier by this time too, so its not much of an issue. All desires to change mains should be brought to the Guild Leader. However, remember, it may be the case that we recruit a new player to replace the role your former main played in the raid, particularly if its a crucial role. Similar to changing main specs, changing main characters could result in being sat more raids to get our desired raid composition. The one exception to this rule occurs when an officer or raid leader approaches a person about changing mains because it would benefit the guild (i.e., asking someone to change to their prot warrior because we've suddenly lost a few tanks to retirement, etc.). This can and has happened mid-content cycle.
We do not tolerate QQ and drama. We all have enough drama in our real lives, we do not want it in a place that we come to have fun. When the officers make a decision, please respect that as it has been made with the greater good of the guild in mind.
Behavior:
1. Drama: We don't appreciate it and we don't want it. This is a game, and we all play it to have fun. However, you must still be professional with all the members of the guild. If there's a problem, take it up with an officer AFTER a raid. We don't expect you to like every decision made but we do expect you to be gracious about it at least until the proper time. Do not take your grievances public either in guild chat, raid chat, vent, or the message boards. We're not telling you that you cannot post to get guild feedback on what you think but we do expect you to wait until you've spoken with an officer about it. Please be courteous to your guild mates and the officers who field the raids for you. If you are angry about something to the point that you're not going to be able to control yourself, tell an officer you need to be replaced in the raid if you're in one and then logoff. If you're not in a raid, logoff and take some time to cool down. If you have an outburst and the officers feel it's bad enough we will issue you a warning after the first one. If you do it again we may evaluate whether or not we want this kind of drama in the guild.
2. The random gquits for jokes are usually funny and lighthearted. We don't have an issue with this. However, gquitting due to an incident is something that should be seriously considered. If you gquit in anger, you are not guaranteed an invite back. You will have to present your case to the officers for consideration. Take a step back, logoff and think about it overnight. If you want to just be left alone and grind on a toon, ask an officer to move that toon to the rank that has gchat disabled for viewing and talking and put up a DND so you can play in peace.
3. Harassment and policing of the raid leader/officers is not allowed. This is not to be confused with you're not allowed to question anything at all, however there needs to be trust that we are doing the right thing for the group and guild and we will be tracking all this information as a group. Even though we are tracking this information, we will not be posting a tracker in the forums. If you think something is off, let us know and we will look into it. However, that does not give you the authority to ask the same question over and over again. I.E. Why is this person sitting and that person isn't every time a raid is formed. This will be viewed as policing and harassing the lead/officer making the decision. We are volunteering to do this extra responsibility and take it very seriously. Questioning every decision made is disrespectful and creates so much additional stress that should not result from playing a game. If this happens, you’ll get warned and if it continues, you will be sat and eventually kicked from the guild.
Raiding and Group Composition:
1. Main Spec/Main Character cannot be changed unless there is new content released or there is a dramatic change to your class. New content is defined as an expansion or a major patch, such as the release of a new raid instance. Keep in mind that such changes should be seriously considered as switching role types will affect the amount you get to raid based on the active raiding roster.
Obviously changing to a DPS role type from Tank/Heals will result in less raid time because we have far more DPS than Tank/Heals. Any requests to change your main raiding spec/toon outside of a content release must be approved by the officers. We will consider the change in role types/class against the current needs of the guild and if the change will cause an unreasonable setback to raiding progression.
We have a lot of alts in this guild, and yes we do organize a second weekly raid kill. However, the priorities for this second group will always be Mains that did not make the first kill over alts. Alts are not supposed to be a guild priority, thus you should not expect the guild to organize additional runs outside of these two weekly kills to get the weekly done, or to have an alt in the 2nd weekly every time, especially if you have more than 1 alt. That will be your own responsibility to organize with other members who have multiple alts or to PUG the raid like many of our members do that have multiple 80 alts.
2. Sitting is defined as you're online and ready to raid on your Main toon but are asked by an officer to sit. If you are sat by an officer for a raid, the general rule will be that you will not sit until every main character available to raid of that main role type has sat. This is subject to officer discretion based on the rest of the rules in this section and raid composition.
3. Getting saved to other progression raids. We ask that you do not save your main character to another current progression raid instance until the weekend or after the second day of raids for the guild, whichever comes first. We realize that everyone wants to gear up as quickly as possible and is willing to PUG for badges/loot and feel that asking you to wait until after the 2nd night of raiding/weekend allows the flexibility for raid composition and gives you the ability to still raid if you sat.
4. Priorities for progression group comp will always be Main character Main Spec. Off spec and Alt Main spec will not be considered unless needed. Unless the officers request an alt to be brought to ensure a successful raid, do not ask to bring an alt on progression raids, even to the easy bosses. The reason for that is simple. Our goal is the Lich King. Until then it is our goal is getting there as fast as possible. That means mains to kill bosses and mains only. We understand your alts are important to you and all we ask is please bring your mains until the Lich King dies. Until then you are free to take your alts on pugs.
5. If you signup to attend a raid and miss it without making an attempt to notify the guild, either by in game mail or a post on the forums, you will be sat the next time you are ready to raid. We are having a problem with people accepting raiding invites and counting on those people to show up as we look at group composition, then when they don't show up we have to react and figure out a new plan. That's not fair to anyone in this guild, especially as we are deciding who sits if too many signup.
6. You must raid at least 1 night of progression in order to raid the first night on "easy farm" sections of a progression instance the following week. I.E. in order to go to the first wing of ICC, you must also attend a night on the bosses after Deathbringer Saurfang. If you do not attend, being sat by an officer does not count against you, you will be at the bottom of the list for group composition for the first night the following week.
7. Raids and wiping: We're instituting a pay attention policy. We will allow 5 total wipes on content we have beaten before. If after 5 wipes we have not beaten the boss we may evaluate performance and switch players out. Everyone has off nights due to stress, tiredness, or just plain laziness. Sometimes a fresh person is just what the raid needs to complete the boss. We feel 5 attempts is plenty of attempts on beaten content to wipe on. We feel after the 4th one everyone should be able to do their job correctly and pay attention. If it doesn't happen after 5 it's unlikely it'll even happen without some switching.
8. Extended breaks, if you are gone for more than three lockouts without notifying an officer, you will be moved to inactive status. Members in the inactive status will only be considered for raids after all active raiding members have been considered. To be taken out of the inactive status, you must be available to raid for two lockouts following your return. We understand life happens. People go on a vacation for more than a week, etc. This rule is not designed to punish that as all of those who have planned activities, or funky schedules such as swing shift jobs.
